Imam Baqir (as) said “Indeed, Allah has hidden three things in three others. His pleasure in his obedience. So of course, do not belittle anything from his obedience, since His pleasure may be in the same one. And Allah has concealed his wrath and anger in His sin. So of course do not belittle and count any sin as small. May be the wrath of Allah is in it. And he has concealed His friends and saints among the people, so do not belittle and look down upon anyone perhaps he may be the friend and saint of Allah.”[i]

Abu Talib (as)

Imam Ali (as) said, “By Allah! Neither my father nor my grandfathers Abdul Muttalib, Hashim, or Abd Manaf had worshipped an idol at all. They offered prayers towards the house (Kaaba) according to the religion of Prophet Abraham, to whose beliefs they had kept.”[i]

Imam Ali (as) said, “By Allah Abu Talib was a faithful Muslim, but he kept his faith a secret fearing for the Hashimites that Quraysh might harm them”[ii]

Imam Baqir (as) was asked about the false tradition fabricated against Abu Talib saying that Abu Talib would be in Hell. He (as) answered, “If the faith of Abu Talib is put in a scale of a balance and the faith of the people is put in the other scale the faith of Abu Talib would outweigh.”[iii]

Abu Bakr and Abbas said “Abu Talib didn’t die until he had said: “There is no god except Allah and Muhammad is the messenger of Allah.”[iv]

Abu Dharr (ra) said, “By Allah whom there is no god other than! Abu Talib didn’t die until he became a Muslim.”[v]
